Benefits of Cold Water Therapy

There are many reasons that people swear by the power of cold water immersion. For me it was the regainment of mental control and physical pain relief. For others it's a daily ritual, an emotional support or simply a fun, adventurous activity.

It's not just magic though...research in to the benefits of Cold Water Therapy is still in its infancy but to date it points towards improvements in your mental, emotional and physical well-being.

In many cases it provides pain relief - reducing muscle soreness and fatigue, and aids the body's recovery process. For others, it has improved sleep patterns, circadian rhythm and alleviated symptoms of anxiety and depression.

More recent research focuses on the improvement of symptoms of the menopause, reports have also suggested it may support immunity and if one thing is for certain, it provides a welcome boost of happiness hormones.

Importantly, (and life-changing for me), with regular, safe exposure to cold water, you will develop resilience, stress management skills and pride in your accomplishments, not forgetting the friendships and communities that develop through it.

I am a huge advocate of the benefits of blue space and green space thinking. Just being in nature, or, even better in, on or beside natural water provides opportunity to be mindful, take a breath and de-stress.
