What we do

This   is what we do!

We. Not me. Because this is such an important element of swimming outdoors and practicing Cold Water Therapy - building friendships and a supportive community.

What we do

It is MY mission to promote the reported, transformative benefits of cold water therapy, green spaces, blue spaces and adventure. I'm dedicated to providing educational, safer, evidence-based advice and practices, that facilitate opportunities for everyone.

OUR community provides ongoing scope to connect with others who hold the same ethics, expand on experience and encourage more time outdoors. Here are our community ethics:

I host a variety of guided sessions and experiences. From beginners small group introduction sessions, through to wild-swimming adventure days out and Highland Cold Water Therapy Retreats.

I am qualified in Open Water Safety & Rescue and a member of the Swimming Teachers Association (STA). Additionally, I am a proud member of Wild Scotland and Activities Industry Mutual, with whom I am also fully insured.

My qualifications, experience and insurances often mean that I can reach people that other communities can't. It is a privilege to be working with charities and organisations that support unpaid carers, people with additional support needs, individuals and groups with physical disabilities,  and neurodivergent people. There are many groups that swim outdoors and practice Cold Water Therapy, and though I am sure that they are welcoming communities, in reality they cannot offer the safety cover and insurances that organisations and key-workers need in order to arrange experiences. Together, The Cold Water Therapist and The Cold Therapy Collective work to remove barriers and provide opportunities for all so that we really are inclusive.

The Cold Therapy Collective (CTC) operates as an Unincorporated Association and aims to make cold water therapy accessible and inclusive across Scotland’s Central Belt by removing financial, geographic, and social barriers. It promotes education and public awareness of its health benefits, while ensuring safe, professionally guided environments. CTC fosters a supportive community, builds partnerships with local organisations, and upholds high standards of safety and professionalism. It emphasises environmental sustainability, offers subsidised sessions for those in need, supports research and innovation in the field, and advocates for the integration of cold water therapy into national health and wellness policies. View the Cold Therapy Collective constitution document here.

Once you've attended an intro session, you'll be invited to join the The Cold Therapy Collective community. A place where we vow to swim responsibly, share only safe practice and develop our group ethics together. This also provides opportunity to connect and swim with like-minded individuals, outside of my guided sessions, along with the option of attending Cold Club, my free monthly meet up and dips.
