Making waves in Cold Water Therapy
It's a ripple effect

As the business has grown, so has the community of swimmers. Our community, The Cold Therapy Collective, now has it's own identity, ethos and fundraising avenues.

Keep reading to discover the meaningful impact we're having on individuals and communities through our work in cold water therapy - and how together, we're creating lasting change.

Impact

01 - Financial Barriers
Funded Places
There is a place on each of my Cold Water Safety Inductions for anyone that could benefit from starting cold water therapy but for whom finance is a barrier. This is an ongoing initiative and can be accessed by getting in touch directly. Safety tow floats and neoprene gloves can be loaned for sessions too, reducing your expenditure.

Various sessions run each year through charities and organisations giving under-represented groups the option of joining an Intro Session at no cost to the beneficiary.

Cost concessions are available to anyone for any session or experience if you have a financial barrier.
02 - Social Barriers
Community Outreach & Growth
When my anxiety was at it's worst, I lacked confidence and friendship. Just turning up to join a group of established outdoor swimmers was an unrealistic option! Small, safe, guided intro sessions, knowing everyone is new, provide the perfect setting. Everyone who swims with me will then be invited to continue their journeys together via our private, safe, welcoming community, the Cold Therapy Collective.
If that's too daunting still, reach out for a 1:1.

Qualified staff are able to attend events and host talks in an effort to reach more people.

03 - Physical Barriers
Accessibile swim venues
Not every swim location that I use is accessible, sadly that's the honest truth when working in the natural environment. I do however pledge to make sure that swim locations are varied and accessible swim spots for those with physical/mobility barriers, will be utilised.
Each session has a note on accessibility so that you know what to expect.
04 - Mental Health
Trained Staff
Jenny, The Cold Water Therapist, has lived experience with poor mental health. Jenny is a Mental Health First Aider and Responder and can offer signposting and guidance on how to access professional support.

Research shows that cold water therapy and outdoor swimming can drastically improve anxiety, depression, PTSD and low mood.

05 - Neurodivergence
Research
Neurodivergent individuals can face various challenges due to differences in how their brains function, impacting social interactions, sensory processing, and executive function. These challenges can manifest in different areas like learning, communication, and mental health. Additionally, neurodiversity can lead to unique strengths.
We have an ongoing case study looking at ways in which cold water therapy may support neurodivergent people. The study currently works with one person and we are trialing different water temperatures, group sizes, locations and adjustments. We hope to work with small groups imminently.
