Bracklinn Falls, Callander
Service Description
Available 2025 dates: Thursday 24, JULY 2025 - 09:00am - meet at location to drive up in shared convoy *FITNESS LEVEL* - this session requires a good level of fitness, flexibility and mobility. Please read the access info below. You should be able to comfortably walk, unaided for at least 1 mile, up and down steep terrain. Climbing over obstacles may be required. Wading through rocky water is inevitable. Good upper body strength required. Coire Eas na Caillich (Scout Pool) - translates to "Corrie of the Falls of the Old Woman" or "Cauldron of the Falls of the Old Woman" in English. It refers to a specific location, likely a corrie (a glacial hollow) and a waterfall, associated with the figure of the Cailleach (an old woman, hag, or goddess figure in Scottish and Irish folklore). This is a superb swim location nestled toward the top of Bracklinn Falls in Callander. Access is difficult but the swim will be rewarding! We will meet at Station Road Car Park, leave some cars there and convoy up to Scout Pool (very limited parking). Lower Bracklinn Falls has car parking, but given it's the summer holidays, I don't trust there will be spaces! Be safe in the knowledge that I know the routes, safety considerations and entry points. *Allow up to 3 hours from meet time to depart time *If you're a group of 3 or 4, a bespoke date can be arranged. *Access level - Difficult - The walk from the cars to the pool is 10-15minutes. Starting on a forestry track, joining a narrow woodland path, skirting the gorge. There is then a steep sloped descent down to the pool, a rope is in place to help. *The water is cold!. Tow floats essential. Consider wearing a wetsuit if you are not acclimatised. *What to bring, where to meet and everything you need to know will be detailed in your confirmation email.
