They will provide you with a code to access this service at no cost.* A blended session with online learning followed by an in-person experience. Tuesday 19, May - 10:00am - Avon Lagoon, Linlithgow Bought to you by Carers of West Lothian, this is your opportunity to try something new in a safe environment, connect with fellow carers and enjoy the outdoors! What to expect: Discover how to enjoy cold water safely and confidently. This induction introduces the essentials of wild swimming and cold water dipping, including how your body responds to cold, how to manage cold shock, build tolerance safely and recognise when it’s time to get out. You’ll receive evidence-based guidance on safety, equipment, wellbeing benefits and aftercare. All guidance is designed to support both new and experienced swimmers and dippers. The vital safety theory of the induction is delivered online ahead of the session, allowing you to learn at your own pace so you can arrive prepared and make the most of the experience. On the day, we’ll have time for Q&A and a chance to get to know your guide. Together, we will then practice my safe and effective cold immersion method, designed to offer optimal results. * Completion of this Cold Water Safety Induction is required for all other guided experiences. * It is recommended to get a medical check up before starting cold water therapy * Your booking will be fully confirmed once your medical/risk acceptance form has been checked * Tow floats and neoprene gloves provided for the session * Water shoes/old trainers required * You’ll receive a full email with course access and session details once your booking is confirmed * Access - Moderate, mostly flat but 1 set of woodland steps and uneven, muddy paths. Approximate 10 minute riverside walk to the lagoon from the meeting point.
