Cold Water immersion advice

What should you do before & after a cold plunge? 

It is always recommended to have a regular medical check up. It is strongly advised to do so before you take your first cold water dip.

Follow these Do's and Don'ts to enjoy cold water therapy safely.

Do

Always swim with others or at least have a 'spotter' on shore

Check weather, conditions and tides

Wear bright swimwear/swim or bobble hat

Stay within your depth

Limit your time in the water

Dry and dress as soon as you exit the water

Layer up your clothes

Eat something

Sip a warm drink

Move - gentle walking or stretching

Rinse your kit clean when you get home

Rewarm thoroughly before doing other things (e.g sleeping)

Don't

Trust how you feel! Limit your time in the water​

Feel pressured to go in

Feel that you can't wear a wetsuit (you will still feel benefits)

Drive if you feel unwell or feint

Do any strenuous exercise

Stand or sit around in wet kit
