Cold Water Safety Induction - Completion of the Cold Water Safety Induction is required for all other guided experiences. The Theory of the Cold Water Safety Induction is now available online for those who prefer to learn at their own pace or cannot attend an in-person induction. Available in person induction dates, 2026: 09:30am: Saturday 14, March Saturday 25, April Saturday 16, May Saturday 18, July Avon Lagoon in Linlithgow is a beautiful freshwater pool with a clear-water gradual entry. An lesson in the basics and safety of wild swimming. Relax and absorb the experience and your surroundings as I guide you step-by-step in to the water. Learn to use your breathing productively and understand the many benefits and safety considerations of outdoor dipping & swimming. Evidence-based advice is shared on water safety & equipment, tolerance to cold exposure, knowing when to get out, benefits to your physical and mental well-being and post-cold aftercare. The session is not about distance swimming - especially in winter. It is to enable you to safely and comfortably experience the cold. Spaces are limited so you can enjoy a safe small group experience, ideal if you have never dipped before and are looking to meet like minded water friends! The Cold Water Safety Induction is also available, fully funded, via various community groups, charities and GREEN Prescribing. Safety equipment provided for the session. * It is always recommended to get a medical check up before starting cold water therapy * Your booking will be fully confirmed once your medical/risk acceptance form has been checked * Tow floats and neoprene gloves provided for the session * Water shoes/old trainers will be required ( I do not loan footwear for hygiene reasons) * A full email detailing where we meet and what to bring will be sent out once you have booked * Access - Moderate, mostly flat but 1 set of woodland steps and uneven paths. Approximate 10 minute riverside walk to the lagoon from the meeting point.
