The Cold Therapy Collective is delighted to receive a second round of funding for another 16-week cold water therapy project. Rooted in my own personal journey through stress and grief, I am dedicated to sharing this potentially life-changing experience with others. Join us and discover the effects of cold water to enhance your mental & physical well-being, reduce isolation, build a supportive community and plunge you in to the proven benefits of green & blue spaces. Starting in September 2026, participants will begin in warmer waters before gradually progressing into colder conditions. Guided sessions take place on alternate Fridays, 10:00–11:00, on the following dates: 4 & 18 September 2, 16 & 30 October 13 & 27 November 11 December Location: Harlaw Reservoir, Balerno (first 6 sessions), followed by sea and moving water sessions. Cost: Free. Eligibility: Unpaid carers who live in, or care for someone living in, Midlothian. Attendance at every session is not required. Places are limited and booking is essential. A funded, online Cold Water Safety Induction must be completed before attending. Medical questionnaire and risk agreement required. Kit: Safety tow float provided to keep. Bring swimwear and water shoes. Full kit list supplied on registration, with additional equipment available to borrow. Funded by the Midlothian Carer Community Fund - an initiative led by VOCAL and funded by Midlothian Health & Social Care Partnership, aiming to distribute grants to community organisations. Not eligible for this project? The Cold Therapy Collective is always seeking funding to support projects that expand access to safety-led, guided cold-water therapy.
